Is There a Difference Between a Radicalization and a Deeper Commitment to Moslems?
Ster dik: Most mainstream moslems would deny that islam has a political element to it or plays some kind of role theoretically, at least or historically. But i guess for british moslem young people to day, and over the last 20 years, in terms of the different second and third and fourth generations, it really is a market place of ideas. For those young people who are looking for a deeper, emotional, spiritual experience, they would tend to draw to sootism, for example. And for others, seeing what's happening in the world, instances of persecution of moslems in various countries, that does become a politicizing force.
