The Difference Between Light and Heavy Water in the Solar System
This new result conflicts with earlier data we have from the comet Hartley II, which had the same heavy water ratio. This newer measurement is telling something very, very different. It's three times enriched and heavy water compared to light water. So we don't really know. And clearly there's some kind of mixing going on in the primordial solar system as the planets and asteroids and comets,. or condensed down at this swirling disk of gas and dust.
