In AI, we haven't figured out what the hardware software contract is yet. There's a memory model where you load things basically in order. So VLAW failed because they tried to violate the model. Weak ordering kind of fails because it violates the model. We have massive branch predictors, data pre-fetchers, but no matter what you do, you don't violate the contract on execution.
