The Role of Co Creation in Urban Planning
Planning departments across the country do have a leadership role that they need to play, and we certainly want to play o leadership roll. Consultation is pretty much theatre, its municipal theatre. Co creation requires following the lead of the community,. We have technical experts, which is indeed important. But the community has lived experiences. And until you get on the ground with residents literally walking their parks and sidewalks, you absolutely have no right to have an idea about what their neighborhood should look like. The teronto neighborhood of kingston galloway orton park, located in east scarborough, is an example of what this could look like in practice.
