PTSD and OSA - What Physicians Need to Know

The preferred first line treatment for PTSD is trauma-focused psychotherapy and should be offered to all patients. SSRIs like fluoxetine, peroxetine,. or sertraline are the most effective for treatment of PTSD. Alternative medications include murtazepine and tricyclic antidepressants. CPAP usage has been shown to reduce nightmares and daytime symptoms in patients with both PTSD and OSA.
