How Did They Create the Rock Art?
We know that obviously they were created with hardstone implements or stone tools of some variety, although we don't really know what kind of stone tools specific were used. In torflaran in kilmartin glen, the excavations revealed hammer stones and pebbles that had marks of being used to create rockarts. We do need more studies like that, more systematic studies to find out. And also then a little bit of experimental archaeology, perhaps, to try specific tools, the marks and so on.
