The game was tied at 1-1 with less than two minutes to play. A defenceman who hadn't scored on the ice all year took a slapshot, and it bounced off his shoulder in front of the goal. The team's captain asked for a stick measurement but got an illegal one. He had to go back to the referees room before he could be measured again. After another try, they were finally able to get their sticks measured - which put them into the penalty box.
