The Relationship Between Innovation Rate and Interactions Between Residential Groups

Innovations are restricted to small groups before you have these open social networks. Until the innovation can spread regionally, it's very vulnerable. And innovations won't spread regionally at all easily until there's relatively open sort of social networks. It's pretty plausible that people who specialize or learn a skill to a very high level are most likely to successfully innovate on that skill.
