The Red Detachment of Women: A Symbol of Chinese Ballet
In 1996, at the age of 33, Funging said farewell to the stage and became a ballet teacher. In 2009, Fung Ying began serving as the director of the National Ballet of China. The troupe has over 200 works in their repertoire, receiving recognition both at home and overseas. Crane Calling is about a woman who looked after cranes and sacrificed herself to save some cranes in a rainstorm.
