What Is the Real Arthur?
Some scholars and lay people argue for historical arthur. They point to a roman general named lucius artorius castus, who commanded units of sarmatian cavalry in britain during the Roman era. Other candidates are prince called artur macaden, crown prince of dalrida, that sea coast kingdom along the western side of what's now scotland. The main link that originally hinted that there was some connection between this roman general and king arthur is the name artorius which is a somewhat common latin family name.
