Some had all the components for revolutionary software for mobile phones. J2ME was lower overhead than Android's Dalvik VM and Luit was a solid UI that was easy to port to new devices. But internally at son, porting Luit to other platforms was a risk and got blocked. And then Oracle acquired son and pushing things forward became even harder because you've left.
