Common Law and Civil Law

Common law just means judge made law, and legislation is law made by parliament. We can think about a common law system as opposed to a civilian system or other systems around the world. And then there is the sort of even broader macro-legal system level comparison. So we would compare the common law with civil law system. I know very little about the European, the French civil law system, but I can confidently see the common law system is better.
