In your writing you've used the term cognitive collage. What did you mean by that? So people have talked about cognitive maps and a term that came from Tohla who showed that rats learning roots could put those roots together into a map of where things were relative to each other. We studied along with many other people various errors that people make systematically in making judgments about spatial relations, distance and direction in particular.

My guest today is acclaimed psychologist and longtime Stanford University professor Barbara Tversky who calls on her nearly 50 years in the field of cognitive psychology for an in-depth discussion about how our minds work.
