Do I Have Myocardial Fibrosis in Athletes?

In one study, they took 12 veteran male-interance athletes with an average age of 56 and compared them to 20 age-matched controls. The overall prevalence of myocardial fibrosis was 5.9% in athletes. It may be that athletes have a higher prevalence of my Cardiomyopathy than age-matched into sufficiently active controls,. But we can't sure from the existing data. We need a larger data set comparing athletes who exercise a lot compared to those who exercise a little.
