The Ascent of D.H. Lawrence
Every house Lawrence lived in from birth to burial was positioned at a higher spot than the last. He rose from underworld to Empyrean. And we all know, I mean, you know, Elliot, Pound, every, all those early modernists were so steeped in their Dante and their classical literature as well. But you don't think about Lawrence in the same way that you think about Elliot and Dante. It just creates these really pleasurable layers of knowledge, of understanding, of communicating Lawrence's story to us.
