Mindfulness and Theta Locking
The better your neurons are talking to each other, the more rich their dendritic branches are. The better they are at communicating then in sync and so attention is what like attending to one object means that all these neurons, especially in their prefrontal cortex, have all gotten now in sync together. But their ability to sync up depends a lot on their d endritic trees, their branches. That they had to be super twiggy and branchey to easily get into that kind of dance of synchrony. So when you practice mindfulness it makes this kind of a theta locking on task much more effective.
