The Importance of Understanding the Big Ideas in Mathematics
It's quite easy to confuse this with a kind of traditional scheme of work where you've got two weeks or three weeks to do a certain mathematical concept. Learning doesn't happen in an hour, learning happens over whatever amount of time it takes. It would be serendipitous beyond belief that every single mathematical idea takes precisely one hour to learn. We need to get away from the idea that a timetable of lesson is the unit of learning. Most certainly isn't a unit oflearning.
