How to Make a Backup of a File in Multiple Locations

Hard links are a great way to essentially make a backup of a file in multiple locations at least if it's on the same file system that you can essentially keep a reference count of. This is great for making backups because if you're using something like rsync it can keep track of hard links to a file. The same thing can be said for some links which is essentially just like shortcuts is what you would use in the windows term for it where you might have a mount point on a particular directory and software that is maybe not very well written expects it to be somewhere else. I feel I've described hard links and sim links really badly but look them up.
