Egyptian Clay Model of Cattle
A History of the World in 100 Objects
Four Clay Cows
Four clay cows were buried in a cemetery near el ambra, southern egypt. They are miniatures made out of nile river clay and have been grazing their patch of grass for about five and a half thousand years. Like all the objects i have chosen this week, these creatures speak of the consequences of climate change and human responses to it. Martin Jones is an expert in the archaeology of food.
