The real power in preaching the text is not just an explanation of what it meant to those people, but he's saying, this is how it lives to day. The other thing that i would say is very eh common at some of our more progressive schools, rather than start in with the canon, they start with culture. I've heard charley preach the same sermon in two different occasions, two different rooms. In both times, like, felt the holy spirit empowering you. And yet you're still a not so rigid that the holy spirit is working in a very fluid way.
