The US federal government has helped push international sales of rapid fire guns to record levels. The shift of oversight going from the State Department, which seems probably like the rules were a little bit more stringent to commerce, "is like basically let's sell stuff," he says. But even at that time, particularly Democrats in Congress raised the concern that moving oversight to the business friendly Commerce Department would inevitably lead to far more sales and looser regulations.
