The Journey of a Refugee

When Rumi was about 14, his family learned that the Mongols had taken the Balk region where he grew up. As the Mongol army continued west, so did Rumi and his family. The camel caravan got on the move again around 1216 in the direction of Mecca,. Every Muslim must make this journey at least once in their lifetime. No matter what happened to me for the rest of my life, I would always see the world through the eyes of a refugee. Passing through these places, I gained an understanding that this world is fleeting.
