Johnny I was the face of Apple's industrial design group and eventually all of user interface at Apple, long after he had stopped individually designing any particular thing himself. He can have a tremendous influence on what happens beneath him simply because in any company you're always trying to sort of please the boss to get a good promotion or do well in your job. And if you know your boss has a particular taste, like Johnny I doesn't like a lot of ports or buttons and like simplicity, don't come up with a design that your boss isn't going to like.
