The idea for rent the runway came from Jen Atwood. She cold called CEOs of Macy's, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus to get them on board. The theft rate at Macy's is only 35%, she says; at Neiman Marcus it's 70%. "Once and for all rich people steal more than poor people," one CEO told her.
