The Patent of Bankruptcy

In a normal environment where capitalist price, where debt capital is priced by the market, there is a way to right-size capital structures. That's called bankruptcy. But because rates were zero for so long, it basically kept the equity market window open for all these crappy companies to do what I would consider an out-of-court recapitalization. The evidence for this isn't a sectoral phenomenon. This happened in basically every sector in Japan through the crisis.
