Rousseau's Philosophy of the Arts and Sciences

Rousseau argued that man's goodness in terms of his character was better than it is now. When everyone hunted their game and foraged for what they could, the earth provided. Man was mobile and nomadic, not laying claim to anyone patch of land for his exclusive use. And so this is the Rousseauian view of nature - sometimes characterized by the phrase noble savage.
