The Importance of Critical Dystopia in Science Fiction Theory
In science fiction theory, what you need is a critical dystopia. You need enough kind of purchase on the badness to prompt people to act. If it's just desolate terror, it's just going to lead to apathy and it won't serve its function. Many may know that Thomas Moore invented utopia in 1516 when he described a perfect society but who invented dystopia?
