When i was a teen ager, i tried to force myself to break more rules. I candly felt like a bad boy. But maybe there is an argument to be made that some rules can be broken. Let me know what rules you've broken. If you do like to follow rules strictly and carefully, you might do things by the book. This expression here, by the book is a common one, which just means you do things in the official way, without cutting corners orl come back to that expression in a minute.
