The number of hours you have to work to get a thousand grams of protein or rice is actually increasing. Volcker's not like he's not mean, I don't think he doesn't want these people to suffer. It's just not as part of his. He's not thinking about it. Does Powell or Yellen or Bernanke know about the carbon footprint of quantitative easing? No, that's a byproduct. That's not in their mandate,. So the point being that these interest rate hikes really harm a lot of people abroad.

Alex Gladstein is Chief Strategy Officer at the Human Rights Foundation. He has also served as Vice President of Strategy for the Oslo Freedom Forum since its inception in 2009. He serves as faculty at Singularity University and as an advisor to Blockchain Capital, a leading venture firm in the fintech industry.
