The Line Between Good and Evil Runs Down the Center of Every Man's Heart
The Stanford Prison Experiment is another famous example where you take- I think it's a Berkeley prison experiment. And over the course of not a very long period of time, but let's say it was only days, you get extreme abuses by these otherwise normal people that become the guards against the inmates. For so many people, the quote unquote lines that they won't cross, cross, are socially constructed rather than morally constructed. If your constraints are more social than if you're given the opportunity to harm another human being, and that conjures up a sense of power, it even feels good in some respect, then you might do it.
