The Practicalities of a 100 Kilometer Tunnel in the Geneva Area

Can they actually fit a 100 kilometer tunnel into the Geneva area given the complicated geological environment that they'll be building it in? Well I flew into Geneva airport just a few days ago. They can just about get it in there and that's what Paul Collier who's head of beams at CERN, in other words he drives the LHC says. It could be feasible in five, six years something like that or a thought. We haven't even decided whether it's going to be one single tunnel for the accelerator or a second tunnel for services and access so it's too early to give an exact time.
