Keeping a Track of the Release Notes of Dependencies
The mistake i see the most is that a developer pulls in some dependency to a project, and they don't keep a track of the release notes of that dependency. Find out if your project builds, find out what problems you have, and start thinking about how to address them. Because whatever those issues are, they're probably not going to go away with the next version.
