Rock Mononoff's Expensive Mode
Rock Mononoff was not always so interested in tying his music together throughout a piece, but in this concerto it's almost the end goal. He then transforms the second theme before we've even really had a chance to understand it. As the theme expands and expands, another rhythm makes its return. Listen closely to the clarinet part. Does it sound familiar? Yes, it's that beginning ostinato that faded away. Coming back here is we end the exposition. Don't listen to the piano here, just to the woodwind accompaniment.
