How Does Aging Aggregate Proteins?

Stanford researchers found protein aggregates in all the tissues that they looked at. More than half of the aggregating proteins seemed to show an intrinsic tendency to aggregate. Cells have elaborate machinery for ensuring that the long, chain-like peptide molecules making up proteins get folded properly.
