God Is the Exemplary Cause of All Created Goodness

An exemplary cause is an example or pattern. To say that God is the exemplary cause is to say that God's goodness in some way is a model for all created goodness. It would mean that someone who does any sort of good in some way images or imitates God. But you might ask, how could someone who does not know God imitate God? This is an interesting question.
