Why Do Plants Close Their Leaves?
i thought it would be at least worth while to look at ike what the evidential claims of the recent research are. Scientists are actually not a hundred % sure why memos putica closes its leaves, though it is generally believed to be some kind of defensive reaction from grazing herbivores or insects. If they were to keep their leaves closed all the time, plant would be drastically reducing its ability to collect sunlight and feed through photosynthesis. So do these plants have a mechanism that allows them to discriminate like that? And according to this following study, it looks like maybe they do.
