Marco Polo and the Elephants of Bhagawan
The explorer and adventurer Marco Polo was serving as a diplomat in the court of Kublai Khan. This army finally met the Mongol garrison at a rocky forested gully known as the Vochang valley. It's likely that for many of the Mongol soldiers, this was their first experience of seeing war elephants fielded in combat.
