Gerard: Gerard is totally with you there that he thinks that there are two sort of totalitarianisms in the 20th century. We had the satanic Nazi totalitarianism that wanted to instal paganism by persecuting victims. And we also had the other totalitarianism, which is the Soviets, which persecuted victims in the name of victims. I think he would disagree with you that Christianity is taking signs because what Christ teaches us is the letting go of violence and the enactment of love. He'd say it's precisely his humanity and the fact that he refuses to perform miracles on the cross, that in some sense reveals his divinity.
