In Nazi Germany, cancer rates were spiking and they were increasing a lot. Warburg took on cancer because it was the disease of the day. He had paintings on his wall of Pasteur and Paul Erliff and Robert Cook. And he thought, you know, next person in this line will be the person who conquers cancer. Hitler himself is a hypochondriac and obsessed with cancer. So their attack on cancer actually got sort of rolled into this weird,. you know, horrifying Nazi ideology.
