Goths and Jovianus - A Brief History

A Tolf was intrigued by the possibility of becoming a power broker in a newly reorganized Gaul. The departure of the Goths was a mixed blessing for Honorius and Constantius. Jovianus' revolt in upper Germany was still in full swing, and if the Goths decided to join forces with the usurper, then their combined strength might overwhelm the imperial defenses.
