The History of Slavery in the US
The 13th Amendment to the Constitution says slavery is abolished, but they make an exception for going to prison. "If you say that for violating a law and the government has the power to grant past whatever law they want, then slavery can come in from the back door," he said. The US could abolish slavery outright because that would mean prison would be illegal.
