The Future of Encryption
End to end encryption means there is no key. There is no server key that Apple can share with China. They can't because there isn't one. Governments want a decryption key that is held by the service provider they can access on demand. The most likely scenario is they carve out enough that the government can declare victory and it doesn't break the internet for the UK.
