Primary and secondary syphilis. Easy. A single dose of penicillin G 2.4 million units. I am. What a G. What a G. I mean, the Sospheric key, it's cute, but it's dumb. It's cute, but it's dumb. It doesn't know. Yeah, it doesn't know how to get around penicillin. One shot. So medieval.
Speaker 1
So medieval.
Speaker 2
Yep. If a patient has a penicillin allergy, you can treat them with doxycycline twice a day for two weeks. Pregnant women with a penicillin allergy actually have to be desensitized and still treated. This is still critical. Yeah. Still treated with penicillin G. That's his assumption. Yeah, for sure. So remember, pregnant women who can't take penicillin, they're going to take penicillin anyway after desensitization. And then tertiary syphilis is longer. You need 2.4 million units. I am once weekly for three weeks.
Speaker 1
So essentially three doses. Yeah.
Speaker 2
Yeah.
Speaker 1
Let's summarize here. Okay. So all newly diagnosed patients with syphilis should be screened for other things. HIV, gonorrhea, chlamydia, hepatitis B. Syphilis questions are just so right for the boards. And they're going to ask you the amount of shots penicillin needed for each stage of syphilis. We just said that they're going to ask you the classic symptoms and the complications of each stage. They're also going to ask you what to do if a patient has a larger penicillin. You're going to desensitize pregnant women and give them penicillin. And they're going to doxy for two weeks for non-pregnant patients. Hope that's clear. It's so critical. Easy test question. Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2
I'm
Speaker 1
going to leave you with a foreboding, foreshadowing, cool scenario here. What happens if there's a strange reaction that occurs with penicillin and metreating syphilis? It also happens with Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Now, I talk about this on our rapid bombs this week. So if you're a premium subscriber, you're going to learn about a very fascinating, high-yield board test question they love to ask. If you're not a premium subscriber, the main question is, why aren't you? And with that, you can check us out at eamborbobs.com to sign up. Marlene, are you got anything

else? No.
Speaker 1
Keep it real. Get them before they get you.
