Elizabeth Brooks was known as the notorious window smasher. She smashed shop windows and tried to steal French cloth from shops. When she appeared in court, everybody knew who she was. One local tradesman offered her money to go away but she didn't take it. Instead of smashing his window, she went up the street and smurried somebody else's windowsUp in Dury Street and was arrested.
