The Bully Is a Teacher
Ever here feels foreign. The students in my new school bully me for not having grown up here. They pick on the way i speak, the way i eat, the games i play. Everything i do reinforces my difference. One of my bullies is a teacher. I see similar things happening to other newcomers who arrive at my school. We feel the isolation of being different.I begin to feel invisible. My mother doesn't comfort me as much as she prepares me for more of this. She has been different from much of her life too. Your path is your own, she says to me often.
