How to Invest in Underrepresented Founders
I'll do roughly 25 investments. Most of those will be in true seed companies, although I do have some allocation for pre-seed and average check size is half a million. 60% of the founders that I backed were underrepresented in some way. When I ran the numbers, it was black, Latinx, LGBTQ women or veteran status. So while there is no direct diversity mandate around cake ventures, I think that my network and my previous experience and backing of underrepresented founders sort of speaks to itself and speaks for itself.
