The Origins of Freemasonry
freemason ry evolved initially out of the gatherings of actual stone masons at building sites in late mediaeval europe. The scottish royal government, under ames the sixth, and his master of works, william shaw, started to put forward so called statutes, rules and procedures for the governance of the building craft in scotland. And then this sort of up dated, late renaissance scottish version of masonry, or as it was sometimes called Freemasonry, then made its way southward into england.
