Kip 500: The Future of Scalability

With Kip 500, we're going to give people the ability to run with three nodes rather than four and still be able to roll effectively. And this is possible because we now retain the memory of that node, which we didn't before. So when the old system went a node one way, there was kind of no record of it ever being there. You were either in the cluster or you were out of the cluster. We've actually added a third state with Kip500, which is you're in the cluster, but you're not available currently. adding that third state makes it possible to even place new topics on that node,.
