The Left-Right Spectrum and Ideology

I consider myself very ideologically driven and I think about ideology a lot, best practices and things like that. So is it all delusional? Is it completely just I'm trying to fit in with the misfits or whatever? Or is it that principles and ideology are on a separate track than the left-right spectrum? Let me be very clear, yes, thank you. What we're saying though, is a conservative philosophy doesn't lead to a specific set of policies which could be modeled on a political spectrum. Because you could have hundreds of different philosophies, not just to progress or conserve.
