The Uighurs who have Turkic roots and are mostly Muslim have lived in this remote region for centuries, wringing by towering mountains in a vast desert. China claims it's modernizing Xinjiang but what's really happening is the horrific mass torture and suppression of the Uighurs and other Muslim minorities.
