Xinjiang: The Cultural Heart of XInjiang
Xinjiang was a major stop on the ancient Silk Road trading route and has been ruled by many different powers over the years. The Uighurs who have Turkic roots and are mostly Muslim have lived in this remote region for centuries, wringing by towering mountains in a vast desert. China claims it's modernizing Xinjiang but what's really happening is the horrific mass torture and suppression of the Uighurs and other Muslim minorities.
